Next 27 May 2022, the Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (7335) 1989 JA will have a relatively close, but safe, encounter with us, coming at about 4 millions of km from the Earth. We will show it live from Chile and Australia, introducing the partnership between the Virtual Telescope Project and @Telescope Live.
The potentially hazardous asteroid (7482) 1994 PC1 has an estimated diameter of 1.8 km (source: Nasa/JPL): this will make it quite bright, so it will be visible through small instruments, mainly from the Southern hemisphere.
Such a close encounter is the perfect occasion to introduce the important partnership between the Virtual Telescope Project and Telescope Live, that will make it possible for everyone to enjoy stars and celestial phenomena from both the Southern and Northern Hemispheres online in real time.
We scheduled two live feeds:
from Chile: 26 May 2022, starting at 23:15 UTC;
from Australia: 27 May 2022, starting at 13:00 UTC.
