Queensland's fire and emergency services are set for an overhaul after an independent review.
Nearly 500 full-time emergency services staff will be added to the state's resources, and a new fire department will be created to take in the Fire and Rescue Service and Rural Fire Service.
The SES will be hosted by the Queensland Police Service and its annual baseline budget will be increased to approximately $60 million.
"More resources, more personnel, better focused services and better alignment of services for fire and emergency services right across the state." - Mark Ryan, Fire and Emergency Services Minister.
